The Opposite of Creating Success: The Quicksand of Distractions

May 31, 2010 by Donahue · 1 Comment

The entire human potential lies in the dreams that men dare to think of. Unfortunately, nowadays, there are plenty of distractions that keep us for achieving our complete and total potential of realizing our dreams. Every time we get interrupted we lose precious energy that could have been used in realizing our dreams. If we do not manage to fight off distractions, which have gradually become such an important part in our lives that we miss them when they are not present, we will never fulfill of dreams. Dreams are the most important part of a man’s life. You must be very honest with yourself and think if you are in control or you allow the every present distractions to interfere with your dreams. Be very honest with yourself when you search for the right answer. Here we are going to discuss the main distractions in our society.

Busy man on phone

If you can relate, its time to meditate.

Email. E-mail is a major distraction from work. I often find myself, and I am sure you can relate, just switching back and forth from my work to my e-mail and from my e-mail to my work. I am unable to properly focus because I constantly shift my attention. I regularly, actually very often, in fact,  permanently check my e-mail for jokes, newsletters and videos. All of them doing terrible damage to my productivity and my work ethic. After all, at the end of the day, with no work done you are left with nothing. Just frustration and regret. E-mail is a huge time killer and a creator of frustrating feelings toward time management. Try not to become a slave to your e-mail and try to concentrate on your actual activities that deserve your time.

Texting. The telephone and instant messages might be considered very helpful in many situations. But be on the look out to see if you find yourself wanting to send mindlessly text messages just for the sake of it. I see people everywhere constantly checking their telephone and constantly typing. Texting can be a dangerous way of losing focus and losing your concentration. You will see that life is a lot more than just texting utterly useless messages. Texting should not become a lifestyle.

Facebook. Working to achieve your life goal is a lot more important than constantly gossiping about your friends lives or your own on Facebook. There are a lot of people constantly worried with their online lives. Creating success and managing to achieve success in the real world is a lot more important. I don’t think that everybody needs to constantly know everything about others, while constantly sharing their own most intimate life experiences and knowledge.

Twitter. Twitter is just like Facebook. It offers the same thing. Another novel and interesting way of spending time and losing your focus on your life’s goals. Twitter and Facebook are useful for those that use them to promote either their professional image or to market something. If you are using it for any other purpose you might be in the danger of losing your focus and perhaps not realizing the importance of your goals.

Mindless internet surfing. If you are so bored that you senselessly click links, then maybe that’s a great wake-up call that you need to make a change – a profound one that moves you from merely existing to living. It’s time to take a step back from the cyber world and check into to real flesh and blood world.

Television. Television is perhaps the first means of obtain cheap and permanent distraction from the rest of the world. You ought to know that television is just for entertainment. It can not help you in any way to realize your goals and expectation in life. Try not to forget that you have a real life and try not to get caught in the trap set by television and forget for hours and nights that you are not a slave to the television industry.  If you are ever going to create something of any value, it won’t happen while you just sit in front of the television.

You might not find your individual time thief in the list presented in this article. This does not mean you are not the subject or target of another way of losing precious time. You should take a minute to think what is preventing you from achieving your value and fulfillment. Take into consideration that this easy ways of obtaining satisfaction, leisure and escapism are not important in your life. It is worth breaking this system of easy and handy gratification and invest time, energy and commitment to an actual project that will build something in your life. Such thieves merely steal your chance for greatness in this life time. Try to avoid being dragged into a non-productive daily routine that can ruin your chance of achieving something in this life time.

People talk about the secret of success and try to desperately find it. The secret is that this secret of a successful life is not that secret. The secret is to actually commit yourself for at least an hour a day to realizing your dreams. You should start by turning off all the electrical appliances in your  house, cut yourself from technology any other form of time wasting activity and get down to work. Try to concentrate and focus on your task without any interruptions. Do not allow anyone or anything to stop you from realizing your dreams. In this life you should dedicate most of your time and energy to fulfilling your dreams. Anything else is merely a distraction that will waste your time. Success is something that is worth investing in time and energy.

Make sure you do not waste your time and life and most important energy on useless distractions. When you start to concentrate on true purposes you will forget about minor distractions and realize what you can truly accomplish. Read more

There are a lot of universal advices that are given to those that wish to stop panic and get into control. These advices can be categorized as either being general, such as changing diet and exercising more, or specific and very professional. The last category actually teaches you to control your emotions and take over control from the arms of panic. You can learn to stop panic through a step-by-step guide that will soon put you back in control. The most important weapon in learning how to stop panic is to learn about what triggers your panic attacks and control these triggers.
Each of us have at our disposal the most powerful tool in the world. The mind is the most important component in any technique devised to stop panic from happening. The mind can help you control your stress level and cut out any unnecessary anxieties from your life. Let me show you how…
The starting point for each technique on developing an effective method to stop panic is to acknowledge the fact that your subconscious does not have the necessary tools to distinguish fact from fiction. Once you have imagined something in your mind, it is real. Each person has his or hers own psychology and it will react to that fictional image accordingly. Everything created in the mind is very real and current, be it remembered, real or fanciful as far as the mind knows.

So try this:

1. First of all think of a quiet space where you do not feel stressed. Go there and keep your eyes closed, knowing that nothing will disturb you.

2. Next, try to feel happy and relaxed. You can manage to instill this positive emotion in your mind by remembering and re-living a pleasant and relaxing experience from your life. Imagine a holiday or a trip somewhere pleasant and relaxing.

3. Focus on picking a very specific time from that holiday or happy period. Once you have chosen the particular time, go a little further and try to remember as many details as possible. Relive that day using memories of images, smells, tastes, everything that made that moment authentic and special. Try to notice what other people were wearing, try to imagine the sounds and the smells, perhaps laughter, after all it was supposed to be a very joyful occasion. Gradually try to focus on the pleasant feelings you get when you remember that moment, that one second in your life.

4. Now you have pin-pointed a very happy moment and you feel that joy. The next step involves enlarging your perspective of that moment. Imagine the fictional canvas larger, brighter, a lot more colors, the sounds become louder and the smells a lot more enticing. As the image becomes larger, the feelings of joy you have recreated should become a lot more intense.

5. I can bet you have all sorts of pleasant memories to chose from. Once you are done with this memory you can jump to the next pleasant memory. Start over with the same step by step image enlarging technique so as to obtain automatic relaxation. As the intensity of the relaxation feeling increases, the stress will disappear.

6. Concentrate on living this joyful experience around 5 to 10 minutes. It should be a great experience.

waterfall smallBefore you discard this technique because it sounds to be too simple to work try it. You will be missing out on a simple but very highly effective technique to put stop panic. Your Life Is a Mysterious Journey, Not A Final Destination

May 28, 2010 by Donahue · 2 Comments

Brazilian author Paulo Coelho in his most famous book “The Alchemist”, tells the fanciful story of an Andalusian shepherd boy named Santiago. Santiago dreams of traveling the world in search of a worldly treasure. Throughout his travels, Santiago’s assumptions are regularly put to the test, but his determination and braveness win out. But as a result of the challenges he faced, by the end of this magical and inspirational fable Santiago realizes that the real gift in life “lies where your heart belongs.” Santiago’s resolve enables him to understand that the true fortune was the journey itself, jointly with all the knowledge he acquires and the discoveries he makes along the way.

Find Your Purpose

The analogy in our lives, is that we are on a personal journey as well in search for our own treasures. But we too frequently get sidetracked by the glitz and glamour of material treasures. We fill ourselves up with things in order to comfort ourselves, live up to an idealized image, or try to fit in. We tend to overlook the true treasures in our lives – our physical health, principles, achievements, disappointments, challenges, discipline, balance, fulfillment. The real treasures are those things that we discover through introspection and life’s experience, not those we take from a shelf at Best Buy or purchase on eBay. Take a moment to reflect on all the astounding insights you would miss if you passed through life without taking time to recognize the potential gifts your life’s experience grants you. If you run through life with only an outcome in mind, you risk missing or obscuring the palpable treasures along the way. Just like windshield wipers madly wipe away the rain, it is not uncommon for people to recklessly cast aside emotions they consider negative, painful or undesirable. When a person ignores certain events that happen in their life, they miss out on the opportunity to learn from them. Some of the most disappointing experiences turn out to carry the most valuable lessons in life. If one has the courage and faith to keep an open mind one can understand that you don’t always know where your journey will take you.

When there is no set path for you to follow it takes guts, resolve, conviction and discipline to take the road less traveled. On that journey, immense gifts are created and revealed. These are the gifts your true fortune is made of. Your challenge is to recognize the gifts you have been blessed with, and figure out a way to develop those gifts and invite personal fulfillment and satisfaction into your life. Consider professional coaching for preparing to rise to the occasion of your life’s journey.

First identify those things in life that you truly treasure. The things that will inspire you to move forward and find your own path.
Then identify the things that you need to leave behind in order to fully experience the journey. The things that keep you in your comfort zone that are safe and familiar.

Consider what will you have to say no to in order to say yes to your personal growth and development? The things you cherish that you are willing to give up in order to move from good to great.

You can only find the treasure within yourself if you are geared up to take the journey. Pursue this quest in every aspect of your life. Discover the hidden treasure that is already within you.

Only by fully experiencing the journey will you discover the path to your hidden treasure and ultimately your genuine personal success. Have faith that riches beyond your wildest imagination are within your grasp. All it takes to access them is an open mind, a willing spirit, and a sense of adventure. Enjoy the road less traveled!

Who among us has not wondered if there are some laws of attraction that govern fame, fortune and wealth. We spend our lives searching for the secret that lies behind achieving what we want in our lives. We need to find the laws of attraction that govern the secret behind successful people. You, as I do, want to have a perfect life, not necessarily their perfect life but an applicable variant of it to our needs and thoughts and concerns. We say “what’s their secret”? “what do they have that I don’t?” We often settle that answer within ourselves with a simple “They just got lucky, they were in the right place at the right time”.

So in order to stop work stress in its tracks you would better learn to deal with job stress in an effective way.

The first thing to do when trying to stop stress cold in its tracks is to not get stressed before you actually arrive at work. I know plenty of people that arrive at work already stressed and in a bad mood. From the moment they wake up, they have a negative outlook on the rest of the working day, start fighting in traffic, don’t allocate sufficient time to eating their breakfast right and speed to get to their office. Hurry and hunger are major factors that prevents you from taking active measures to stop stress cold in its tracks.

Anxiety Attack Liberation

March 15, 2010 by Donahue · 1 Comment

An anxiety attack, also referred to as a panic attack, is an episode of intense panic and/or fear. Unfortunately, it often occurs suddenly with little or no warning. In some cases, there’s an obvious trigger for the attack–getting stuck in an elevator, for example, or thinking about your big race–but in other cases, the attacks seem to come out of the blue. An anxiety attack usually hits its worst point within ten minutes, and it rarely lasts more than a half hour. To someone who has never suffered through one, this may not seem very long. But it’s an eternity to the person that’s experiencing it. The terror can be so severe that you feel like they’re about to die or completely lose control. The physical symptoms of a panic attack are themselves so intense that they are often confused with having a heart attack.

For A Solution That Is Permanent go here: PANIC ATTACK AWAY

Common symptoms include: a rush of overwhelming panic, feeling of losing control or going crazy, heart palpitations, chest pain, dizziness, difficulty breathing, choking feeling, hyperventilation, hot flashes, chills, trembling, nausea, stomach ache, and feeling like you’re not really real but looking in on yourself. If you suffer repeated, unexpected anxiety attacks, and you are also afraid of having an attack again in public, you may suffer from panic disorder. Panic disorder may also be accompanied by agoraphobia, the fear of being somewhere that you can’t get help or a place that would be difficult to leave if you did have an attack. The exact causes of panic attacks are not yet certain. However, we do know that the tendency to have panic attacks runs in families and there seems to be a correlation with major transitions such as graduating from college, starting the first job, getting married, and having a baby. Severe emotional stress, like losing a loved one or job can also trigger a panic attack. Panic attacks could also be caused by medical conditions such as mitral valve prolapse (which happens when one of the heart’s valves doesn’t close properly), hyperthyroidism or hypoglycemia, or by stimulant use or withdrawal from medication. Luckily, anxiety attacks are treatable with cognitive behavioral therapy and/or medication. Cognitive behavioral therapy focuses on the thinking patterns and behaviors that are sustaining or setting off your panic attacks. It helps you look at your fears in a more realistic light and feel that you are gaining control of the situation. Exposure therapy exposes you to the physical panic feelings while you are monitored in a safe and controlled environment. The point of this type of therapy is to give you the chance to learn ways of coping with your anxiety. You will be asked to do things that bring on your attacks, such as holding your breath or hyperventilating. As you repeat these actions, your fear lessons and you feel a greater sense of control over your panic. This information does not substitute for medical advice given by a health professional.

April 5, 2009 by Donahue · Leave a Comment

Every persons reacts differently to stress. Not only do we react different to stress, but each of us has its own breaking point to stress and each of us has different situations that are stressful. Stress is something very personalized to each individual and it can be very hard to underline ways to relieve stress that work with everybody. People try to find different ways to relieve stress and there are some that resort to hypnosis for stress disorders. There are a lot of professionals that offer hypnosis for stress treatment and market this technique under the name of hypnotherapy.

just reeelax

How does it work? Once the therapist has established a report with you, and feels they have an understanding of your stress triggers then they will help you reach a state of relaxation through trance. The facilitator helps and guides you intro a trance, using an induction technique just by talking to you and engaging your conscious mind, so that your subconscious will become more suggestible. Hypnosis for stress management is used by these hypnotherapist who try using different ways to relieve stress through a trance to help the patient handle stress by creating a more realistic perception on stressful situations. Hypnosis for stress disorders is meant to offer the patient alternative solutions for their stressful situations, so as to improve the perspective of life in the future. The patient will be able to understand what changes he would have to undertake in order to make his lot in life better. Hypnosis for stress solving includes different stages and steps that are know by the therapist. The first step is to make the patient feel relaxed through achieving a trance like state. While in this trance, the patient is given by the hypnotherapist a problem and a solution for the stress. The hypnotherapist suggests ways to relieve stress and the patient’s subconscious adopts them. The moment the patient comes out of the trance and wakes up the session is over. The facilitator in hypnosis for stress management has to take into account how many sessions the patient will need. He does this by constantly evaluation the patient’s progress and by taking into account the feelings, emotions and thoughts present during the sessions. It has been proven that younger people need fewer sessions of hypnosis for stress than older people. The ways to relieve stress used in hypnosis for stress management have a greater impact on younger people than on those of a certain age. Ideally stress has to be dealt with as soon as we see it manifest itself. Stress can have a powerful and negative impact on our lives because it has to do with our emotions and inner life. Hypnosis for stress management is just one of the most successful ways to relieve stress that exist and one should definitely consider using it in order to preserve one’s well being. For more on hypnosis you can go to any number of sites with a simple search. It is best to research stress from the perspective your stressors. For example, if you are student, then research stress for students. If you are a caregivers I recommend www.caregiverrelief.com.

I will let you in on a little secret. As a hypnotherapist I can honestly tell you that self-hypnosis does not work! People make millions off of people, and when it doesn’t work it leaves them feeling like there is not hope for them. What does work, and works well is direct hypnosis But hypnosis CDs and DVDs on the other hand will do great job, sometimes very quickly. One such program is Richard McKensey’s Direct Approach is good track record. Try it in the privacy of your own home.

Is Stress Treatment Different Than Stress Management

April 5, 2009 by Donahue · Leave a Comment

hangingIn this article we are going to clarify some terminology that is directly linked to the subject of stress. First of all we have to master the difference between physical stress and emotional stress. Although we might get so caught up in our stressful lives that we might not catch the difference, we must know beforehand the differences between the two.

On one hand we have physical stress. This type of stress manifests itself mainly on your body. Because of physical stress your body will suffer and it is going to let you know that you need to take some proper measure to change the situation. Worrying, anxiety and fear are among the major causes for psychological stress. Now that we know what types of stress exist we must find proper ways of addressing it. For this we can use either a stress treatment or a stress management practice. Stress management comprises of a variety of simple or complex techniques that are meant to treat the effects of stress upon the human. Stress management targets both the ill happenings of stress upon both the physical and the emotional side of man. Often stress management is comprised of simple exercises that can be used and practice on a daily basis in your own home. When you decide to use stress management to fight against stress chance are you will be careful with your diet, try and exercise more, try to have a positive outlook on line or take deep breaths that will improve your mood. On the other hand stress treatment involves the presence of a professional helper. A doctor or a specialist will help you to improve your emotional tensions.
